21-07-17 “Father Kleomenis” unrelated to the Church of Greece
Lately, there have been videos posted on the internet demonstrating acts of vandalism
against monuments and establishments as well as insulting utterances by a man wearing a
religious habit, calling himself “father Kleomenis” and stating that he acts in the defense of
the orthodox faith. We wish to make clear that this person is not a monk or a priest of the
Orthodox Church of Greece. We deplore his illegal acts as entirely unrelated to the Discourse
of our Lord Jesus Christ on love and kindness and we express our sympathy to all those
affected by his acts. In response to this incident, we call on people to be cautious of similar
cases of persons wearing a religious habit who appear as so-called monks or priests of the
Orthodox Church.
